SEO for iGaming affiliates

SEO for iGaming affiliates changed shape in March 2026. Of the sites that lost half their traffic, 73% had no named author; of the sites that gained, 11% did. Recycled bonus tables were always the most replaceable thing on the web, and summaries got to them first.

Three doors, all narrowing at once

Content affiliates are the largest segment of the casino affiliate ecosystem by revenue contribution — review sites and comparison platforms that rank for casino queries and convert through organic traffic. That is the whole model, and every part of it has been squeezed since early 2025.

Door one is the summary. AI Overviews are estimated to consume 30% to 50% of informational click-through in iGaming, and comparison content is precisely the shape a summary reproduces best. A list, a recommendation, a short justification. The model produces that itself and the click never happens.

Door two is the algorithm. The March 2026 core update hit 71% of monitored affiliate sites with ranking declines, the worst result of any content category. Google files gambling under Your Money or Your Life, which puts affiliate content at the same trust bar as medical and financial advice.

Door three is paid. Across 2025 and 2026 two rounds of platform tightening squeezed performance affiliates out of Google and Meta, and the 23 March 2026 update made gambling ad certification a standing test instead of a one-time clearance rather than a one-time approval. The escape route closed at the same moment the main road narrowed.

If a model can generate your page from what it already knows, your page has no reason to exist.

What we actually do about it

01

Prune before we publish

Most affiliate sites carry hundreds of zero-impression URLs, and the weakest pages set a ceiling on the whole domain. We identify them, then merge, improve or remove them, with a measurement window either side so you can see the effect. Nobody sells removal. Everyone sells addition.

02

Build the data nobody else has

Tested withdrawal timings. Verified payout speeds. Bonus terms you actually read. A model cannot invent your test results, so it either cites you or drops the claim. Adding statistics, quotations and citations to a page raised its visibility in AI answers by roughly 25% to 40% in the Princeton benchmark.

03

Put a name on the work

In an audit of more than fifty iGaming sites across five markets, named-author expertise was the strongest predictor of which sites held rankings through core updates — ahead of domain authority and ahead of backlinks. Most affiliate content is published anonymously. That is now a measurable liability.

04

Optimise to be named, not clicked

The overlap between top-ten rankings and AI Overview citations fell from around three quarters in mid-2025 to between 17% and 38% by early 2026. Holding a position and being named in an answer are now two different outcomes. We track and move the second one.

Casino affiliate SEO is now a different job. Content affiliates are the largest segment of the casino affiliate ecosystem by revenue, and the entire model rests on organic search — which is the thing that changed.

The split that ran through the March 2026 update. Nothing on the left is a penalty. It is simply work a summary can reproduce, and a summary is free.
01

Audit and triage

We map every URL against impressions, rankings and AI citation, then sort them into keep, merge, improve and remove. Most affiliate sites discover that a third of their pages are contributing nothing and costing something.

02

Prune, then measure

Removals and merges go out in batches with a measurement window either side. You see the effect of each batch before the next one ships, which is the only way to make deletion an evidenced decision and not an argument.

03

Build the differentiators

Original testing data, named authors with real credentials, and the two or three content assets on your site that a model would have to cite instead of paraphrase.

04

Track citation instead of just rank

Monthly reporting across 6 AI surfaces alongside conventional rankings, so you can see the two moving independently — because they now do.

Which affiliates this suits, and which it does not

It suits sites with a defensible niche: a specific market, a specific vertical, or a specific kind of testing nobody else does. It suits operators of established properties who can see the decline in their own analytics and want a structured response, never more publishing.

  • /Sites with a defensible niche: one market, one vertical, or one kind of testing nobody else does.
  • /Operators of established properties who can see the decline in their own analytics.
  • /Affiliates willing to remove pages, which is the hardest change and usually the highest-return one.
  • /Not suited to anyone whose plan is volume, because two hundred comparison pages a quarter is the wrong bet.

Is casino affiliate SEO still worth doing?

It does not suit anyone whose plan is volume. If the intention is to publish two hundred more bonus comparison pages this quarter, we are the wrong agency, and the honest advice is that the money would be better spent on almost anything else. We will say so on the first call, never take the retainer.

What we will not promise you

  • /That your 2024 traffic returns. It will not. Those clicks were absorbed and not paused.
  • /A fixed AI ranking. No such position exists, and model answers vary between identical runs.
  • /That pruning feels comfortable. Removing pages that once earned money is the hardest change to authorise and usually the highest-return one.
  • /Speed. Entity and content changes typically show in thirty to sixty days; third-party presence and citation take one to two quarters.

The arithmetic, in your numbers

So a $1,900 Growth retainer is roughly eight incremental Tier-1 FTDs a month, and Starter at $900 is closer to four. That is a number you can check against your own dashboard in ninety days, which we prefer to a traffic chart you have to take on trust.

One caveat worth stating: if you are on RevShare instead of CPA, negative carryover changes the maths. A month where referred players win can wipe out the gain entirely, and diversified organic traffic across larger cohorts is one of the few things that genuinely dampens it.

The specific mechanics matter here. AI Overviews absorb the informational click, Google's Your Money or Your Life classification raises the E-E-A-T bar on every review page, and Core Web Vitals problems quietly remove pages from the index before anyone notices the traffic has gone.

One more thing worth deciding before an engagement starts. Affiliates frequently arrive with a publishing plan already written and a page count attached to it. We will size that against what the market actually supports first, and in several cases the honest answer has been a third of the number in the brief. The surplus is not wasted budget so much as active harm: the weakest pages set a ceiling on the whole domain, and the sites that grew through 2026 mostly did so by publishing less.

What stopped working in 2026
  • Recycled bonus tables that a summary reproduces perfectly.
  • Publishing volume as a growth strategy.
  • Anonymous reviews with a stock photo and a first name.
  • Broad coverage of every market and every vertical at once.
What still does
  • Original testing — withdrawal timings you measured yourself.
  • A defensible niche: one market, one vertical, one kind of rigour.
  • Named authors with verifiable experience.
  • Fewer pages, and removing the ones capping the domain.

What operators ask us

Is affiliate SEO finished, or can we still make it work?
Undifferentiated affiliate SEO is. A page that reprints the same bonus table as forty others was always the easiest thing to replace, and summaries got to it first. The sites still adding traffic have three things in common: they test something themselves, they own a narrow patch, and a real person signs the page. Which of those two describes your site is the only question that matters here.
Will this bring back our 2024 traffic?
No, and treat anyone promising that carefully. The clicks moved rather than paused. What improves is citation presence, the roughly 35% click lift that cited brands see on the same query, and arrivals who have already read a comparison before they land on you.
Should we really delete pages?
Usually yes, and it is the recommendation casino affiliates argue with hardest. Weak pages cap the whole domain, so removals go out in batches with a measurement window either side. That is the only way to make deletion an evidenced decision instead of an argument, and it starts with URLs that have had zero impressions for six months.
We are small. Can we afford this?
Starter is $900 a month, against a market range of $1,500 to $2,500 for comparable work. If that is still out of reach, take the free audit anyway. It costs you nothing, you keep the report, and you can act on it yourself or hand it to whoever you like.
How do we know the spend is worth it?
Do the arithmetic in your own numbers. Tier-1 regulated casino CPA runs $150 to $400 per first-time depositor with a median around $250. A $1,900 Growth retainer is roughly eight incremental FTDs a month. You can check that against your own dashboard, not trusting a traffic chart.
Do you work with our operators too?
Sometimes, and we will tell you if there is a conflict before we start, not after. We do not share strategy, keyword data or performance information between an affiliate and an operator competing for the same terms in the same market.
What if our traffic is holding up fine?
Then take the free audit and we will tell you that. Some affiliate sites in narrow niches or non-English markets have barely been touched yet. Knowing you are currently safe is worth having, and it tells you which of your pages to protect first when it does arrive.
